Reading & ELA Tutoring

Reading & ELA Tutoring

Build stronger reading skills with instruction that meets your child where they are.

Reading is the foundation for success in every subject, and small gaps can grow quickly if they are not addressed. Bloom Reading & ELA Tutoring provides systematic, explicit instruction in the skills your child needs most, delivered live online in a small group of peers working on similar goals.

Who This Program Serves

This program is designed for students in grades 1–8 who would benefit from targeted support in one or more of the following areas:

  • Decoding and phonics — sounding out and recognizing words accurately

  • Reading fluency — reading smoothly, accurately, and with expression

  • Vocabulary — understanding and using academic and content-area words

  • Comprehension — making meaning from literary and informational text

  • Written response — organizing ideas and supporting them with evidence from the text

Our Approach

Every student begins with a reading placement assessment that identifies current strengths and pinpoints instructional needs. From these results, Bloom develops an individual learning plan with clear goals for the ten-week cycle. Your child is then placed in a small online group of two to three students of compatible ages who are working on similar skills.

Sessions follow a consistent structure grounded in the science of reading: a brief review, explicit teaching of a new skill or strategy, guided practice with immediate feedback, and application to connected text. Instruction is multisensory and systematic, drawing on Orton-Gillingham and structured literacy principles, and always focuses on the priority needs identified during placement.

What Your Enrollment Includes

  • Placement assessment and individual learning plan. A comprehensive reading assessment followed by a written plan outlining your child’s goals for the cycle.

  • A 10-week instructional cycle. A consistent, structured block of instruction that allows skills to develop and take hold.

  • Twenty live online sessions. Two 45-minute sessions each week, taught by a Bloom educator in real time.

  • Small groups of 2–3 students. Groups are matched by age and instructional need so every child receives close attention.

  • Assigned practice materials. Purposeful between-session practice that reinforces what was taught and builds independence.

  • A midpoint parent update. A progress report at week five so you know how your child is responding to instruction.

  • An end-of-cycle progress summary. A written summary of growth, remaining needs, and recommended next steps.

What Families Can Expect

Families receive a clear picture of where their child is starting, what instruction will focus on, and how progress is measured. Sessions are engaging and purposeful, and students are encouraged to take an active role in their own learning. By the end of the cycle, you will have a clear understanding of your child’s growth and a recommendation for continued support, enrichment, or next-level instruction.

Group enrollment is confirmed once at least two compatible students are matched. Reading and math are separate enrollments.
