When a child is struggling, or when a family simply wants a clearer picture of where their child stands, general observations are not enough. The Bloom Academic Achievement Assessment provides a detailed, individually administered evaluation of your child’s reading, writing, or mathematics skills, along with practical recommendations for instruction.

Our Approach

The assessment is conducted by Dr. Shauntell Dunbar, Ed.D., a licensed special education teacher with extensive experience in literacy and academic evaluation. Following a parent intake and review of relevant school information, Dr. Dunbar selects appropriate subtests from the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT), a nationally normed measure of academic achievement, to investigate the specific concerns raised during intake.

Subtests are administered individually, scored, and interpreted in the context of your child’s grade level and academic history. Results are presented in a written summary and explained in a parent consultation, with clear, practical recommendations for instruction and next steps.

What Your Enrollment Includes

• Parent intake and record review. A conversation about your concerns and a review of relevant report cards, work samples, or school information.

• Individually administered WIAT subtests. Subtests selected for the purpose of the assessment, administered one-to-one.

• Scoring and interpretation. Professional analysis of results in the context of grade-level expectations and your child’s history.

• A written summary of findings. A clear, organized report of your child’s performance, strengths, and areas of need.

• Instructional recommendations. Specific, actionable guidance for supporting your child at home, at school, or through tutoring.

• A parent consultation. A meeting to walk through the results, answer your questions, and discuss next steps.
