Bloom Math Tutoring identifies exactly where understanding breaks down and rebuilds it through clear explanations, guided practice, and meaningful application, so students move from memorizing procedures to truly understanding the math.

Who This Program Serves

This program is designed for students in grades 1–8 who would benefit from targeted support in one or more of the following areas:

• Number sense — understanding quantity, place value, and the relationships between numbers

• Computation — fluency and accuracy with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

• Fractions and decimals — representing, comparing, and operating with parts of a whole

• Problem solving — reading, interpreting, and solving multi-step word problems

• Foundational algebra — expressions, equations, ratios, and proportional reasoning

Our Approach

Every student begins with a math placement assessment that identifies specific skills to strengthen and any gaps in prerequisite knowledge. Bloom then creates an individual learning plan with clear goals for the ten-week cycle and places your child in a small online group of two to three students of compatible ages with similar instructional needs.

Sessions combine clear, explicit explanation with guided practice and opportunities to apply new learning. Students use visual models and concrete representations before moving to abstract notation, and they are consistently asked to explain their reasoning aloud, a practice that deepens understanding and builds mathematical confidence. Instruction focuses on the priority needs identified during placement while building toward grade-level expectations.

What Your Enrollment Includes

• Placement assessment and individual learning plan. A targeted math assessment followed by a written plan outlining your child’s goals for the cycle.

• A 10-week instructional cycle. A consistent block of instruction that allows concepts to be taught, practiced, and mastered.

• Twenty live online sessions. Two 45-minute sessions each week, taught by a Bloom educator in real time.

• Small groups of 2–3 students. Groups are matched by instructional need and compatible age so every child receives close attention.

• Assigned practice materials. Purposeful between-session practice that reinforces skills and builds independent problem solving.

• A midpoint parent update. A progress report at week five so you know how your child is responding to instruction.

• An end-of-cycle progress summary. A written summary of growth, remaining needs, and recommended next steps.

What Families Can Expect

Students leave sessions able to explain not just what they did, but why it works. Families receive clear information about starting points, goals, and progress, along with a recommendation at the end of the cycle for continued support, enrichment, or next-level instruction.
